Globo announces new partners to co-produce Supermax

Globo's first original production for the international market Supermax' recently reeled in another major partner in the Ibero-American audiovisual industry. Mediaset Espa a is now part of the project as co-producer and will be responsible to broadcast the series to Spanish audiences on Canal Cuatro. The group is the newest member of co-producers, alongside the Mexican network TV Azteca, the Argentinean TVP (Televisi n Publica de Argentina) and Oficina Burman, owned by the Argentinean filmmaker Daniel Burman. Burman is also in charge of the creative direction of Supermax'.

Raphael Corr a Netto, Globo's executive director of International Business, emphasizes the potential of the series. We have two strategic goals with this project. The first is to reach over 500 million Spanish-speaking viewers with a product specifically tailored to this audience. The second goal is to expand our relationship with key players in this market, such as our partners TV Azteca, Mediaset Espa a and TVP - Argentina, in addition to promoting creative networking among the talent pool. We will continue to work hard to make sure Supermax' is also aired in other countries of the region, said Netto.

Manuel Villanueva, Content General Director at Mediaset Espa a, said that: Through this agreement we will have the opportunity to take a step forward in our presence in Latin America with Globo, one of the key players in this territory . Supermax reunite conditions that make this series a very attractive content, both for its originality and its storytelling and also because of the level of performance and quality of its production. It seems an ideal project to become our first international co-production filmed in Spanish.

Cultural pluralism marks the beginning of the shooting activities at Globo Studios

The shooting of the international version of Supermax' started at Globo Studios, in Rio de Janeiro, at April 25th. New accents, faces and stories are mashed into the creative melting pot that drives the brazilian audiovisual production complex every day.

A Globo's executive production, Supermax' is based on the original plot of the Brazilian version of the series. The Latin America version's cast features names such as Argentinean actress Cecilia Roth, Antonio Birabent, Alexa Moyano, Laura Novoa, Guillermo Pfening, Juan Pablo Geretto y Nicol s Goldschmidt, the Spanish actor Santiago Segura, the Cuban actor Rub n Cortada, the Uruguayan actor C sar Troncoso, the Mexican Alejandro Camacho and the Brazilian stars Laura Neiva (The Party) and Felipe Hintze (Hidden Truths). This entire star-studded cast will be directed by the renowned Argentinean filmmaker Daniel Burman for the next two months.

Actors, directors and crew members all enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere during the first days of shooting. It was a great opportunity for professionals with different backgrounds to meet and share experiences. Shooting at Globo Studios with all of these incredible talents from all over the world is been an incredible experience, said Daniel Burman. Intriguing characters in a suspense and drama-filled plot

A maximum security prison in the middle of the desert was abandoned for several years after a bloody massacre that took place during a prison riot. Now the place is reopened as the center stage of a major reality TV show. Eight participants will enter the prison and compete for a two million-dollar prize. Viewers have 24/7 unrestricted access to all of the physical and psychological challenges that the competitors must face in order to win. That is the main plot of the international version of Supermax': a drama thriller that blurs the line between reality show and fiction like no other before.

Supermax' is one of Globo's new productions that will be presented during the LA Screenings.
