Leader celebrates 65th anniversary with major new SDI IP product releases for true hybrid test and measurement

Leader Electronics Corporation, a globally active producer of high-grade test and measurement solutions, celebrated its 65th anniversary this year by introducing four new test and measurement products at the April 7-12 2018 NAB Show in Las Vegas: The LV5600 true hybrid IP and SDI waveform monitor and LV7600 rasterizer equivalent, plus the LV5300 portable 12G/3G/HD/SD-SDI waveform monitor and its LV7300 rasterizer equivalent.

All four were demonstrated on the Leader exhibition booth, C8008, in the Central hall.

"Most broadcasters now recognize the potential of video over IP both within their studio facilities and for long distance content delivery. The majority will transition to IP via an interim SDI/IP hybrid infrastructure so they will want to handle SDI and IP in a single test and measurement product. The LV5600 and LV7600 address this concern, providing common display interfaces, irrespective of whether the source signal is SDI or IP. Both instruments conform to the Leader style of being intuitive for camera operators to use as well as for engineering staff."

Leader LV5600 true hybrid UHD/HD/SD SDI/IP waveform monitor and LV7600 rasterizer

The Leader LV5600 is a mains-powered SDI/IP waveform monitor in a compact half-rack width 3U desktop chassis with a touch-screen front panel display. It provides all the facilities needed to seamlessly monitor UHD/HD/SD SDI as well as video over IP signals. The LV5600 includes a broad set of engineering-related features including test pattern generation, eye pattern display, jitter measurement, closed-caption monitoring, CIE color chart, high dynamic range measurement, focus assist, customizable screen layout, tally interface, 4K/UHD operation, 10G IP input and 12G-SDI interfaces. SMPTE 2022-6, SMPTE 2022-7 and the recently published SMPTE 2110 protocols are all supported. The LV5600 also incorporates Leader s intuitive CINEZONE and CINELITE which are familiar to many content production staff.

The LV7600 rasterizer offers exactly the same capabilities as the LV5600 but in a low-profile 19 inch 1U form-factor for easy rack or desk mounting.

Leader LV5300 portable 12G/3G/HD/SD-SDI waveform monitor and LV7300 rasterizer

Also new at the April 2018 NAB Show were the Leader LV5300 portable 12G/3G/HD/SD-SDI waveform monitor and LV7300 rasterizer. Designed for use in 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI, HD-SDI and SD-SDI studios, trucks, post-production facilities and playout suites, each continues Leader's long heritage of providing products that support operational and engineering test and measurement requirements within a single instrument. CINEZONE and CINELITE come as standard on both products, as well as new optioned features including eye pattern and jitter measurement, closed-caption monitoring, CIE color chart, high dynamic range measurement, built-in test pattern generation, focus assist, customizable layout, tally interface, 4K/UHD operation and 12G-SDI interface.

"The LV5300 and LV7300 are ideally suited for both TV and film applications, Kozo Nagao adds. "The LV5300 supersedes the LV5333 which established itself with DITs and camera assistants as a veritable Swiss Army knife for on-set production. With the addition of the CIE color chart, we anticipate the LV5300 becoming the de-facto on-set test and measurement tool with the LV7300 achieving the same for post-production studios."
