E.tv's popular telenovela Imbewu: The Seed is being canned after launching on the channel in April 2018.

IMBEWU: THE SEED' PRODUCERS CONFIRM THE CANCELLATION Imbewu: The Seed actress and co-executive producer Leleti Khumalo, who plays MaZulu in the e.tv telenovela confirmed the news in a joint statement with co-executive producers Duma Ndlovu and Anant Singh.

Imbewu' changed the face of the daily drama offering on South African television with its unique storylines, cliffhangers, and high drama, resulting in it becoming one of the most-watched shows. Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela revealed on Twitter that the Durban-based telenovela will still be on air until the end of the first quarter in 2023.

The show is the fifth telenovela to get cancelled in 2023 after Durban Gen, The Queen, Diep City, and Lingashoni. It is reported the show will be replaced by a brand-new local drama.
