Berklee NYC will present an honorary Doctor of Music degree to Ann Mincieli - recording engineer and producer behind some of the most influential recordings of the past two decades - at its annual graduate commencement on Saturday, June 27. The ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Appel Room on the sixth floor of Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Mincieli will be the seventh person to receive an honorary doctorate from Berklee this year. She joins Jacob Collier, Jill Scott, and Vinnie Colaiuta, recognized at Berklee College of Musics commencement on May 9, and Beth Morrison and Moses Pendleton, honored at Boston Conservatorys ceremony the same day. Eric Whitacre will be celebrated at Berklee Valencias commencement on July 6.
I am deeply humbled to accept the Honorary Doctor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music on behalf of Berklee NYC, said Mincieli. Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to help create spaces where emerging artists can thrive, collaborate, and realize possibilities they may not have seen in themselves. To be recognized by an institution committed to nurturing the next generation of creators who will shape the future of music and culture is a tremendous honor, and one I will carry with profound gratitude.
About Ann MincieliAnn Mincieli is a five-time Grammy Award-winning recording engineer, producer, entrepreneur, and music industry executive whose career has been dedicated to advancing excellence in music creation, innovation, and artist development.
Best known for her longstanding creative partnership with Alicia Keys, Mincieli has worked with some of the worlds most celebrated artists, including Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Drake, Jennifer Hudson, and many others. A passionate believer in the art of recording, she is known for collecting both new and vintage gear and often trading older equipment for even older pieces that carry unique history and character. Her unique ability to bridge creativity, technology, and business has made her one of the industrys most respected leaders.
Mincieli is the founder and owner of Jungle City Studios, a cornerstone of New York Citys music community that has become a destination for artists and creators from around the globe. She also serves as head of studio operations for Sony Musics New York and Los Angeles studio network, and consults globally on Sonys broader studio strategy and development initiatives, helping shape the future of creative spaces across the companys international footprint.
A passionate advocate for equity and opportunity in music, Mincieli is also a co-founder of She Is The Music, alongside Alicia Keys, Jody Gerson, and Sam Kirby Yoh. The nonprofit organization works to increase representation, opportunity, and inclusion for women across all areas of the music industry.
Raised in Staten Island, New York, Mincielis journey began as a young musician with big dreams and an unwavering curiosity about how records were made. Decades later, she continues to approach every project as a student of the craft-believing that the pursuit of excellence, lifelong learning, and the power of collaboration remain at the heart of great music.
