Berklee Students Develop New Ideas for Live Entertainment and Travel in London This summer, a group of music business students collaborated with Heathrow, British Airways, and Wembley Stadium during a two-week innovation experience.

A group of Berklee Music Industry Leadership and Innovation students received top honors on a proposal to reimagine the live entertainment and fan experience at Wembley Stadium

Students in Berklee's Music Industry Leadership and Innovation (MILI) program, part of the Music Business/Management Department, recently traveled to London for a two-week immersive innovation experience that challenged them to rethink the future of live entertainment, travel, and the customer experience.

In partnership with Brunel University of London and Design Factory London's Idea Factory, the program brought together students from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds to address real-world challenges presented by major organizations. Through design thinking, prototyping, and market research, students developed and tested solutions to present to industry leaders.

The program introduced challenges developed in collaboration with Heathrow Airport, British Airways, and Wembley Stadium. Under the supervision of assistant professor Kanan M. Shah, students explored new approaches to the passenger and fan experience, with interactive sessions that immersed students in AR and VR technologies and their potential applications across live entertainment.

The experience culminated in a pitch competition, where a team that included Berklee students took home top honors for their proposal to reimagine the live entertainment and fan experience at Wembley Stadium.

My trip to Brunel University pushed me outside of my comfort zone, said MILI student Maju Freitas. Working with major organizations, collaborating with people from different backgrounds, and experiencing London gave me a new perspective on how I want to build my career in the music and entertainment industry.

By bridging music, technology, business, and design, the program gave MILI students the opportunity to apply their skills beyond the classroom and gain firsthand experience solving complex challenges in an international setting.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry Leadership and Innovation program gives music business students a foundation in design thinking and strategic leadership within the music business and prepares them to identify new opportunities, develop innovative solutions to solve problems, and better meet the needs of both creatives and consumers.
