MEL SHOWS A SOFTER SIDE ON RHOPTA' Melany Mel Viljoen has been labelled the mean girl on the Real Housewives van Pretoria (RHOPTA) by Twitter users. However, the reality star showed viewers some vulnerability and a softer side on the latest episode of the Afrikaans reality series this week.

The Tammy Taylor Nails SA founder was whipping up some pancakes to take to their Market Day at Renske Lammerding's house.

Peet I was nine years old when I went door to door selling pancakes, she said.

Mel revealed that she grew up with her mom, stepfather and two half-brothers. She explained that her stepfather spoiled her two brothers by giving them money and she also wanted money to buy her own sweets. So, she started making pancakes and selling them to make her own spending money.

I grew up with a stepfather. And my stepfather and my mother had two children together. My two half brothers. And they were spoiled by my stepfather. So, I noticed the two guys were getting money and I didn't, and I wanted to go buy sweets for myself as well, she said.

And so I decided to make money by selling pancakes, she continued.
