Private capital funds cultural and creative industry in Cixi

During the Spring Festival holiday, the "TimeReserve Cultural and Creative Park" became a favorite place for gathering for the young people in Cixi County. By conducting such fashionable cultural activities as book clubs, salons, performances, Fang Jie and his team have realized their "cultural and creative dream" of turning the park, used to be some old industrial buildings, and now attracting a dozen of cultural creative enterprises, into a "new landmark for the youth".

Like Fang Jie, an increasing number of entrepreneurs in Cixi County have set their eyes on the "blue ocean" of cultural and creative industry. Over the past few years, the cultural industry in the county has maintained a 17% growth rate, ranking No.2 among all the counties and districts in Ningbo.

Supporting policies have provided more services for the local cultural and creative enterprises. After getting the "Golden Monkey Prize", the top prize in China for animation production, with the "Chicky Rainbow", the Storm Animation has started to produce the "Brudla Wars". To promote the seamless docking between the local manufacturing enterprises and the cultural and creative enterprises, Cixi Culture, Radio Broadcasting, Film and Television Administration has organized such cultural activities as the 2014 Cultural and Creative Square in Cixi County, the docking meeting for cultural and creative service projects, and the special zone for cultural and creative services at the Household Appliance Expo, and has promoted over 20 cooperation projects, with the total contractual volume of over four million yuan.

Joint efforts have been made to develop innovation and creativity. With the cooperative operation model of government, property owners and enterprises, the Smarthive (Cixi) Cultural and Creative Park launched such supporting policies as free-renting within three years and financial rewards according to contributions. Since its opening at the end of 2013, the park has attracted 31 cultural and creative enterprises for settlement, with an investment of over 55 million yuan.

Cultural creativity has become the best catalyst for transformation of traditional enterprises. The Weiwei Culture Co. Ltd. in Zhangqi Town has developed nearly 1000 kinds of "Weiwei Deer" animation derivatives, which are well received at such fairs as the Hangzhou International Animation Festival, attracting a total order value of over 10 million yuan.

The traditional cultural brands with strong Cixi features have found new markets. For example, at the Xufu Blackwood Furniture Hall, known as the municipal "intangible cultural heritage base", the blackwood furniture made with the traditional tenon and mortise structures are popular among the high-end clients. The Shanglin Lake Celadon Culture Park, with a total investment of 175 million yuan, has been under construction, and will serve as an incubation base for the transformation and upgrading of the traditional celadon techniques.
