ATEME today announced it is providing its Kyrion encoders to drive 70 major content channels for FPT Telecom, one of Vietnam's top three telecommunications providers. The encoders will be deployed on the premises of major content providers where they will encode content and stream it back to the FPT operations centres in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Now with higher video quality and lower latency, the content for FPT's current OTT and IPTV services will be distributed throughout the whole of Vietnam.
Based on the ATEME fifth Generation STREAM compression engine, the Kyrion encoder provides the best baseband video quality at minimum bitrates. This solution has been designed for contribution over satellite and IP networks, with added value features such as front video and audio confidence monitoring, ultra-fast-boot, ultra-low latency, Audio Level Control and ABR output.
With so much content available on the internet for free, FPT is always finding ways to deliver the best quality and viewing experience for their subscribers, said Nguyen Hoang Linh, executive vice president, FPT Telecom. Viewing experience in terms of video quality and latency is very important to us. We conducted a comprehensive evaluation of several solutions, but ATEME always came out on top. For instance, on one of the major sports channels content is now streamed three seconds faster due to the Kyrion encoder.
