At 13:10, Nov.22, 2016, as Flight Mu2010 from Taipei Taoyuan Airport to Ningbo landed safely, Ningbo Lishe Airport had its 7 millionth passenger for the year.
Since the beginning of this year, the Ningbo Airport has seen the total number of passengers rapidly growing to a record of 7 million, which is more than that during the whole year of 2015. Among them,1 million are inbound and outbound passengers, a year-on-year rise of 13%.
Centering on the dual tasks of developing an international clean airport and national airport-based economic demonstration zone, Ningbo Airport spares no effort to increase passenger and freight transport. Under the impact of the increasing number of exhibitions and fairs, tourists, events and activities hosted in Ningbo as well as student flow on summer vacations the airport has maintained rapid growth in passenger flow. From January to October, the number of flights in Ningbo Airport is nearly 53,000, delivering a total number of 6.525 million passengers, cargo 84,000 tons, increasing by 14.6%, 13.8%, 36.0% respectively. The growth of total cargo ranks the first among all airports in East China. At the same time, the passenger throughput for the whole year is expected to reach 7.7 million.
Faced up to the mounting number of air passengers, Ningbo Airport is proactively working with many airlines on further extending its airline network by intensifying transporting and adding more flights and destinations, which will simplify people's travels. Meanwhile, with Internet Thinking employed to cross-border cooperation, higher flight load factor has been achieved via favorable tourism products and services like air-rail transport. Up to now, 45 Airlines have been operating at Ningbo Airport, with 92 international and domestic airlines covering 77 destinations (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan). According to Ningbo Airport Frontier Inspection Station, in the first 10 months of 2016, the number of inbound and outbound passengers exceeded 967,000, representing an increase of 12.7% over the previous year and the number of international passengers- 444,000, equals to an increase of 30.4%.
With its air cargo volume growing exponentially, Ningbo Airport has witnessed a 105% increase in total airfreight transport, compared with the previous year. Since the beginning of 2016, it has, step by step, formed joint ventures with several airfreight companies, such as UNI-Top Group, Yangtze River Airlines and IATA CK (Cargo King) and launched new freighter routes from Ningbo to Dacca, Osaka and Amsterdam. It is worth mentioning that every scheduled Ningbo-Dacca flight carries 27,000 tons of cargo, setting a new record. Besides, all-cargo carriers operate 5 scheduled flights a week from Ningbo to Osaka, which are the first direct airfreight flights for cross-border e-commerce across the country. What's more, Ningbo-Amsterdam flights are the first cross-state airfreight flights Ningbo Airport has handled. While at present, there are 10 alternative routes in total, and half of them fly abroad or to Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan.
