BACKENTERTAINMENT ONE AND AWARD WINNING PRODCO ALLEYCATS FILMS SIGN EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTION DEALNew agreement signifies eOne's continued commitment to increasing its unscripted offering by partnering with the best in independent production talent
London November 4, 2021 Entertainment one (eOne) today announces it has signed an exclusive distribution deal with award-winning independent production company, Alleycats Films. The partnership gives eOne the exclusive international distribution rights to Alleycats' content.
Under the terms of the deal brokered by Noel Hedges, eOne's Executive Vice President of Acquisitions, Alleycats Films will develop and produce premium content to tell informative, surprising and entertaining stories for the global market. The content created under the first look deal will be distributed exclusively by eOne internationally.
As we continue to bolster our expansive slate of compelling content, this deeper partnership with Alleycats builds on our existing relationship with the company and further strengthens our strategy to partner with top creatives to provide high-end factual content to clients around the world, said Hedges.
Proudly based in Northern Ireland, we're passionate storytellers, and we want to reach the biggest possible audiences. After a period of rapid growth, we're delighted to be partnering with eOne, in a relationship that will allow us to further expand, building a foothold in the US and new international markets, said Ed Stobart, Managing Director/Executive Producer, Alleycats.
This deal will see Alleycats Films content sit alongside recent successes including the international Emmy award-winning Inside China, from Hardcash Productions, in addition to returning factual entertainment series such as The Highland Vet, which launched on 5Select in the UK to record ratings, and Arctic Vets, which is currently in production on Season 2 in Canada.
With a winning track-record of creating exceptional series and formats across various genres for global audiences, Alleycats Films boast an impressive slate of programming including Tiananmen: The People v The Party for PBS/ARTE, How To Defuse A Bomb for BBC One/Four, and Helluva Tour for Channel 4, in addition to a suite of high performing documentaries and factual entertainment. Previously, eOne partnered with Alleycats Films to distribute two series of the BBC Two's popular docu-series Raiders of the Lost Past with Janina Ramirez (known internationally as Lost Worlds and Hidden Treasures), which has been sold to more than 60 territories worldwide, and in its first run on BBC Four ranked as one of the channel's top 10 documentaries of 2019 (4 *). The initial projects included in the deal are two new BBC Three series The Fast and the Farmer-ish (7 x 30'), which offers a glimpse into the lives of young farmers in an entertaining new competitive series, and The Big Proud Party Agency (6 x60'), which follows a team of LGBTQ professional party agents as they plan iconic events.
