Hero accepted for DISCOPRO Pitching Competition --

Hero is the untold story of the role played by Caribbean people in the struggle for African independence, against the veiled but implacable resistance of the vested interests of Europe and America who were adamant in their refusal to relinquish their domination on the rich resources of those countries.
Acclaimed international filmmaker, producer and distributor Frances Anne Solomon and Trinidad and Tobagos film and TV producer, Lisa Wickham, have joined forces to produce a documentary-hybrid through a collaboration between Imagine Media and CaribbeanTales Worldwide Distribution (CTWD). Republic Bank of Trinidad and Tobago is the title sponsor, while other partners include Visual Art and Production (T&T), Caribbean Atlantic Holdings (Ghana) and The Rudolph Walker Foundation (UK). The film stars Nickolai Salcedo, British Actors Joseph Marcell and Jimmy Akinbola, and Ghanaian stars John Dumelo and Prince David Osei.
Solomon and Wickham will be attending DISCOP 2015, and were accepted to pitch this project as part of the DISCOPRO Pitching Competition at the Sandton Convention Centre on 4 November, at 11h00.
The film was shot in Ghana, London and Trinidad and Tobago, and is currently in post-production.
We are part of the African family, says producer/director Solomon. Our stories are an extension of African history and culture, so we are here to build partnerships.
CTWD will additionally have a Pavillion on Level 0, where it will be displaying a vast range of Caribbean and African diaspora content.
