Sony is trying to give a new impetus to the storage on optical disc La multinacional japonesa presenta un disco de segunda generaci n con capacidad para 3,3 TB ampliando as su ecosistema ODA (Optical Disc System).
En un momento en el que broadcasters y productores tiene en el punto de mira el almacenamiento en nube, Sony est apostando por dar un nuevo impulso al archivo sobre disco ptico.
Con motivo de NAB, la multinacional ha presentado un disco de segunda generaci n con capacidad para 3,3 TB (ODC-3300R) ampliando as su ecosistema ODA (Optical Disc System). Durante la feria se anunciaron tambi n nuevas unidades que ser n capaces de leer y escribir en este formato a una mayor velocidad y tendr n conectividad mediante USB o fibra.
Sony insiste en que el disco ptico es una de las mejores soluciones para almacenamiento profundo de contenidos ya que, a su juicio, este soporte tiene una vida que superar a los cien a os.
En este momento, broadcasters como la televisi n p blica de Alabama APTV (EE.UU.), ATM Grupa (Polonia), ATV (Turqu a), Beijing Television,China Central Television y China Education Television (en China), San Marino RTV (San Marino) o Sun TV Network Limited (India) ya est n utilizando la propuesta de Sony.
Por otra parte, con el fin de lograr una mayor eficiencia bas ndose en la mejora de lectura / escrituray una mayor capacidad, otros broadcasters como Artear (Argentina), Golf Channel (EE.UU.), Korean Broadcasting System (Corea), RTRS (Bosnia Herzegovina) o Sky Perfect JSAT Corporation (Jap n) ya han comenzado a introducir la segunda generaci n de disco ptico.
En el caso de Polsat (Polonia) est n estudiando utilizar esta nueva tecnolog a como soluci n para recuperaci n de desastres. En el caso de Sony Pictures Television est n llevando pruebas de cara a automatizar el workflow con las soluciones ODA como archivo primario medio para negativos originales de pel cula.
