Viz Libero 6.: NFL Next Generation Stats (NGS) and Opta data visualization

Viz Libero 6.2, a minor release of Vizrt's leading 3D sports analysis software, is now available.

Viz Libero 6.2 provides integration with Opta and NFL's Next Generation Stats, advanced Live Viz Engine Integration and new output file formats.

Data integration: NFL Next Generation Stats (NGS)

With the latest release of Viz Libero, a full integration with NFL's Next Generation Stats has been added as a plug-in. Most importantly, the NFL NGS data feeds provide the player tracking information directly into Viz Libero so that all player paths are immediately available for the operator to attach graphics to individual players.

This integration also lets the user select the game from the data services provided by NFL and automatically retrieve all team and player information without any further user interaction. An event selection mechanism allows the user to easily browse a game for the key plays and directly access the right footage. Official statistical information such as speed and acceleration can be inserted into overlays and player labels.

Data integration: Opta

Viz Libero 6.2 integrates the data feeds of Opta directly into its workflows and extends it with new features. During project creation, Viz Libero retrieves all team and player information for the selected game. Using the event based video search, the user can easily find any Opta-logged event in the game feed within a few mouse clicks. To enhance the analysis clips, the Viz Libero/Opta integration offers access to all Opta statistics and heatmaps for insertion into the Clip.

Live Viz Engine Integration

Viz Libero 6.1 introduced a new integrated workflow with Viz Engine, Vizrt's real-time 3D compositing engine. The integration allows designers to create customized Viz Libero effects using the full power and creative flexibility of Viz Artist, Vizrt's modeling and animation tool. Designers can create their own templates or customize the provided graphics templates. The Live Viz Engine integration allows operators to directly preview the full-resolution graphics and interactively adapt their properties within Viz Libero. Viz Libero allows to easily switch between different styles on-the-fly, enabling branding of the analysis clips for different shows or channels.

Multiple designs per tool: With Viz Libero 6.2, the Live Viz Engine Integration has been extended with the possibility to define multiple designs for a tool within the same style. With that, the operator can directly select different player mark or player label designs to highlight key players differently from the other players.

Team and player dependent graphics: As an extension of the above design flexibility per tool, an automated mechanism allows to define graphics depending on the team or player information. With that, Viz Libero automatically choses matching player labels or player marks according to the predefined team and player information or depending on the data integration with third party data such as Opta or NFL NGS.

Customizable On-Air modeThe On-Air mode added with Viz Libero 6.0 is now configurable to be used as simple Telestrator. The user can define the available tools and video controls and the visibility of the camera sources.

File input and output: .h264 in mov and mp4 supportFor our non-broadcast customers in coaching and other areas, Viz Libero now offers support for .mp4 or .mov files containing .h264 content. Such files can be rendered as output, too.

Improved cutout dialog and Strobe Frame selectionThe Cutout dialog for player separation has been overhauled and offers a significantly better user experience, especially for Virtual Run effects. With the possibility of ordering the previews in a horizontal order and easily browse through them to preview the effect quality, it also lets the user select the Strobe Run frames directly in this preview. Seamless zoom and a clean-up of the user interface elements conclude this improvement.

Unified installer and adapted file system structureTo simplify installation and upgrade procedures, a new unified installer package lets the user install the entire Viz Libero package including all required software applications with one click. This package also includes all applications for the Live Engine Integration.

With this change, the default installation paths for the application and application data have been adapted to conform Microsoft Windows standards.
