MICE brisk in Ningbo

The 2nd Aquatic-related Industries Exhibition was held in Ningbo on November 23, sponsored by the Aquarium Specialty Committee of Chinese Association of Natural Science Museums. The exhibition covered the four largest banquet halls of New Century Grand Hotel of Ningbo, and a trip to Ningbo Ocean World was arranged by the organizer.

"This is an important event in the field." said a person in charge from Ningbo Shenfeng Ocean World Co. Ltd. The event attracted 470 representatives from 91 aquariums and 52 aquatic suppliers from the domestic mainland areas, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Australia.

"The 2100-square meter banquet hall was fully occupied. The minute the meeting ended, the working staff began to set the chairs and tables for dinner. Everything was done within just a few minutes." said Chen Yanna from Landison Plaza Hotel, Ningbo. This is the scene of the founding ceremony of the Fujian Chamber of Commerce in Ningbo, the first 1000-people event of the newly opened hotel.

"The end of the year is the peak time for the reservation and reception of the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions." said a person in charge from Ningbo Tourism Bureau. The guests of the MICE are mostly leaders and elites of all walks of life. As they pay much attention to the quality of services and will stay for a long time at the destination, they serve as a strong power for purchase, thus having a great effect on the development of the tourism-related industries.

As is known, in 2015, Ningbo received 1.57 million inbound tourists, up by 35.34% over 2012, against the negative growth of the inbound tourism of the whole country. According to the big data of Ctrip and dianping.com, six million netizens vote Ningbo as "the domestic MICE destination with greatest potential". All these demonstrate the efforts and achievements of Ningbo in tourism.

According to some insiders of tourism, the rich natural and artificial landscapes, profound cultural heritage and complete public services lay a solid foundation for the development of the MICE industry. "It has been five years since Ningbo started to develop the MICE industry. With the high-end hotels and various kinds of tourist products including meditation, studying or family tour, the city has developed its own characteristics and strengths. For the next step, we will strengthen the policy support, introduce professional MICE and cultivate the MICE experts to promote the industry." said Chen Gang, Deputy Director of Ningbo Tourism Bureau. Recently, he led the Ningbo delegation to attend the 2016 Beijing International Commerce and MICE Exhibition, in the hope of docking with the projects from such major cities as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and introducing the high-quality conferences events to start its own brand.
