SES to Test Broadcast Saturday s Real Madrid-Barcelona Match in UHD

SES S.A. will test broadcast Saturday's Real Madrid vs. Barcelona football match in Ultra High Definition (Ultra HD) via SES's ASTRA 1L satellite at 19.2 degrees East. The transmission is part of the Ultra HD technical tests being conducted by SES, Movistar+ and other industry partners.

A test live broadcast of a football match in Ultra High Definition marks another milestone in the introduction of this new technology in Spain, as well as in Europe, and shows the readiness of the Ultra HD ecosystem, said Luis Sah n, General Manager of Spain at SES. Thanks to satellite and its ability to cost-effectively deliver the best quality content to a large audience, it is only a matter of time before the live broadcast of Ultra HD content becomes part of our daily TV viewing experience.

SES Techcom Services, Newtec Expand ASTRA Connect Broadband Services

SES Techcom Services, a subsidiary of world-leading satellite operator SES it will be expanding its Astra Connect broadband service in Africa for the Enterprise and Oil & Gas markets via the Newtec Dialog multiservice platform on SES's ASTRA 2G satellite.

SES is extending its current relationship with long-term partner Newtec - a specialist in designing, developing and manufacturing equipment and technologies for satellite communications - by the new platform, which is due to be launched in Q1 2016 and will utilise the West Africa Ku-band beam of the ASTRA 2G satellite, located at 28.2 degrees East.

The platform will broaden SES Techcom Services' current portfolio and flexibly support different services, be it for consumer, Small Office, Home Office and SME customers, or for Enterprise and Oil & Gas customers. Newtec Dialog supports MF-TDMA and SCPC technologies, as well as Newtec's Mx-DMA technology, increasing bandwidth efficiency and service reliability for enterprise applications and enabling those services to run more cost-effectively and reliably than before.
