Arrow Finale Hits Target for Fans

The fourth season of The CW's superhero staple Arrow came to a close May 25 and the final episode generated 18.1% of all Emotional Reactions (ERs) on the network yesterday, according to Canvs, the language analytics company. Canvs took a closer look at the finale to gauge fans' emotional response.

Canvs detected 13,818 ERs out of 42,854 tweets captured by Nielsen, with more than 32% of tweets expressing some sort of emotion. The main ERs fell into the good (16.5%), excited (12.1%), crazy (6.1%), supportive (4.1%), sad (3.1%) and beautiful (2.7%) buckets, with love dominating at 37.0%.

In the opening moments of the show there was a spike in excited, accounting for 25.9% of all ERs in a five-minute span, with finale' being mentioned in 12.4%.

During the night there were 5,233 unique reacting authors, with 21.5% showing their loyalty by returning to engage from the previous week.

In the closing moments of the episode, fans took to Twitter to express their love, sparking more than 40% of all ERs during the final five minutes, with more than 160 reactions pouring in per minute.
