AFP announces 2018 Fifa World Cup deployment

AFP will produce close to 2,000 broadcast and web videos in French, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic. The videos will feature the teams, the cities and the stadiums, player profiles, training sessions and pre-match press conferences. AFP will follow reactions in the fan zones and the side-stories of the event including security issues and the environment. It will also provide video features.

The Agency's photographers will provide full live coverage of the competition, with up to 1,200 photos each day. A selection of the best images from the matches and from off the pitch will be offered to customers daily. AFP will also provide photo highlights from previous World Cups and offbeat pictures.

AFP will provide complete text coverage, moving more than 200 stories a day in the Agency's six production languages -- English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Arabic. Coverage will include exclusive interviews and angled stories about the 32 countries that qualified. A Moscow-based reporter will provide in-depth coverage of Russian football, including security, social issues, politics and lifestyle topics.

The Agency will publish up to 600 infographics and 15 videographics providing analytical summaries and at-a-glance visualisations of the competition. Interactive graphics available in six languages will include player biographies, presentation of the stadiums and a football trivia quiz. Using innovative datavisualisation formats and 3D videos, every goal in the tournament will be shown from a perspective of 360 degrees.

Online, AFP is offering a widget in partnership with Gracenote that provides a real time data feed - fixtures, stadiums, teams, results, and statistics from previous World Cups.
