Berklee Latino Announces New Dates in Mexico and New Location in Colombia

Berklee is expanding its Spanish program, Berklee Latino, to Bogota, Colombia, October 6-10. Students will enhance their skills in three main areas of study: composition, performance, and productions. Berklee Latino is led by two Grammy Award-winning artists, executive director Javier Lim n and academic director Oscar Stagnaro.

Berklee Latino explores the essence of Latin music and teaches young musicians the basic tools to take their music to the next level. Participants can also delve into topics such as recording, editing, mixing, and mastering, as well as analyzing the lyrics of Spanish songs to understand how a masterpiece is constructed in this language.

Students will also interact with guest artists, participate in jam sessions, and perform a live concert to conclude the program in which they will showcase the skills they learned. Berklee Latino is designed for young musicians above the age of 15 with at least six months of music experience.

The music industry in Latin America is growing and gaining momentum. The talent coming out of the region is great and we are excited to provide this opportunity to students in Latin America to learn the Berklee method in their own language, say Guillermo Cisneros, vice president for global initiatives at Berklee and executive director for the Berklee Latino program.

The program will be taught by Berklee professors sent specifically for this program at Universidad del Bosque; an institution which, with its quality and prestige, lays down and excellent framework for our program, said Stagnaro. We also have the support of EMMAT, which is a member of the Berklee International Network, and thus shares our methods and work philosophy.

I can't wait to meet our students in Colombia after the great program we had in Mexico, said Lim n. Working with such talented young musicians is always a source of inspiration.

The program returns to Tecnol gico de Monterrey, Mexico City Campus, January 7-12, 2015, after a successful debut which included visiting artists including Armando Manzanero, Alejandro Sanz, and Tania Libertad.
