Penombra Celli & Viole from Sonora Cinematic

Two new MPE-capable libraries announced

Sonora Cinematic's The Founders Locker line-up has just gained two new additions: Penombra Celli and Penombra Viole.

Both new libraries began life as source recordings for the company's popular Movimento Strings series. during the recording sessions, players were asked to perform a series of highly dynamic single sustained notes, pushing and pulling the sound in any way they saw fit. Those sounds were processed to create subtle soundscapes for Movimento Strings, but Sonora cinematic say that the original takes were too good to leave on the shelf!

So, theyve since returned to the original samples, processing and layering them with the likes of synths and guitars, as well as blending them with heavily treated versions of themselves. The results are presented in the two new Penombra libraries, with some offering a sound that stays close to its acoustic roots, and others drifting into far stranger, darker territory. Penombra Celli laregly occupies the lower registers, and is said to offer a darker, more brooding tone that's ideal for dark textures, tension and dramatic moments. Penombra Viole then sits in the middle register and delivers a more restless quality which is said to excel at conveying movement and momentum.

Both libraries run in Audiomodern's Soundbox software and take full advantage of the new MPE features introduced in the latest version.

Compatibility Penombra Celli and Penombra Viole require Audiomodern Soundbox v1.3 or later, which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.

Pricing & Availability Penombra Celli and Penombra Viole are both available now, priced at £10.80 each including VAT.
