NAB 2026: Dell Technologies and NVIDIA present AI data platform for media workflows

Dell Technologies is showcasing its Dell AI Data Platform with NVIDIA at NAB Show 2026, targeting enterprise infrastructure for AI workloads in the media and entertainment sector.

The platform combines Dell storage systems and data engines with NVIDIA's AI computing, networking and software stack to support applications including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), multimodal search, agent-based workflows and large-scale data processing.

The companies outlined a shift in AI usage towards systems that process and act on multiple data types, including video, images, documents and signals. The platform is designed to support these workflows across distributed environments, including on-premise, cloud and edge infrastructure.

The architecture is based on open formats such as Iceberg and Delta Lake, alongside open-source technologies including Trino, Elasticsearch and NVIDIA libraries such as cuDF and cuVS. It supports modular scaling of compute, storage, vector search and orchestration, with integrated security features including encryption, access control and audit capabilities.

Several new data engines were introduced as part of the platform. These include the Dell Data Orchestration Engine, a data management layer developed following Dell's acquisition of Dataloop, and a related marketplace providing preconfigured pipelines and models. Additional components include an agent-based SQL analytics capability, a GPU-accelerated data processing engine for use with Apache Spark, and a GPU-accelerated search engine designed for indexing and discovery across large datasets.

The platform also incorporates updates to storage infrastructure, including integration with NVIDIA CMX for high-performance memory in inference environments, and performance enhancements to PowerScale pNFS with increased read throughput.

Dell and NVIDIA also introduced a set of validated AI blueprints, described as pretested architectures for applications including video search and summarisation, USD search with NVIDIA Omniverse, predictive maintenance and biomedical research.

The Dell AI Data Platform with NVIDIA forms part of the broader Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA, with deployment supported by Dell Professional Services.
