Cixi opens 700 stores on Tmall

Amidst the e-commerce boom, e-business firms mushroomed in Cixi with a host of online shops opened on Taobao. So how many local shops are there on Tmall on earth? According to statistics from Zhejiang E-commerce Big Data Public Service Platform, by the first quarter local businessmen opened 682 shops on Tmall, increasing by 395 since last year. Among them, 466 kept active, ranking top in Ningbo.

According to preliminary estimates, currently tens of thousands of online shops have opened in Cixi, delivering over 150,000 packages every day with annual revenue exceeding 500 million yuan. Taobao, as an online retail marketplace that enjoys wide popularity in China, has attracted plenty of e-business firms. Specifically, Taobao holds C2C shops run by individuals while Tmall is occupied by B2C shops registered under companies, which means the latter will have stricter requirement and review for opening shops.

If the number of Taobao shops reflects the economic vitality of local e-business, then the number of Tmall shops can well measure its scale and competitiveness. Statistics from relative commercial departments indicated that currently over 30% of local enterprises above designated size are engaged in e-business, of which 40% are household appliance firms, roughly the same proportion these firms occupied of the local brands and companies in manufacturing. In the Single's Day of 2015, e-business in Cixi achieved new breakthrough. Fotile doubled its online sales by reaping over 100 million yuan solely through its Tmall store; Qinyuan, gaining over 50 million yuan, tripled its sales; and Xianfeng achieved a sales volume of 19.5 million yuan, reaching a record high. Jiesikai electronics, which has settled in Cixi E-commerce Industrial Park, sells 400 to 500 Konka heaters through its Tmall shop every day. Last year, its sales topped 20 million yuan.

In recent years, Cixi has been deliberating on supporting policies for e-business according to the current situation. It allocated 10 million yuan as a special fund for e-business development. The fund will offer rewards to new e-commerce firms or e-commerce service firms with outstanding performance in a year. As to the innovative projects of e-commerce, proportional subsidy will be provided after the review of an expert panel. Currently, 26,300 people in Cixi are directly engaged in e-business with 66,700 indirectly engaged, ranking second in Ningbo.
