Sound Devices Earns NAMM TEC Award Nomination

The 688 mixer/recorder has been nominated for the 31st Annual NAMM TEC Awards for excellence in audio.

REEDSBURG, WI - Sound Devices is pleased to announce that the 688 12-track portable mixer/recorder has been nominated for the 31st Annual NAMM TEC Awards in the category of Outstanding Technical Achievement, Recording Devices.

Founded in 1985, and presented by the TEC Foundation for Excellence in Audio, the TEC Awards are the longest-running awards show specifically recognizing outstanding achievement in product innovation and sound production. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 23, during the 2016 NAMM Show, one of the world's largest global music industry trade shows, held annually in Anaheim, CA.

Launched earlier in 2015, the 688 is the newest member of the 6-Series family of mixer/recorders. The 688 incorporates a multi-channel mixer, multi-track recorder, and is the first 6-Series product to incorporate MixAssist auto-mixing technology. First introduced with the Sound Devices' 788T recorder, MixAssist is a powerful digital processing engine that allows the 688 to deliver 12-channel auto-mixing capabilities. MixAssist automatically attenuates the level of inactive inputs, and maintains consistent background levels regardless of the number of open microphones.

The 688 features six, high-bandwidth mic/line XLR inputs, each complete with phantom power, high-pass filter, and analog input limiters, plus six additional line-level TA3 inputs for added flexibility in complex productions. Its eight output buses provide extensive pre- or post-fade routing flexibility. For recording, the 688 offers 16-track, polyphonic or monophonic broadcast WAV and MP3 file recording to SD and CompactFlash cards. All common sampling rates are supported, including 192 kHz on up to six tracks.
