Cartoon Network launches Imagination Studios with competition across Africa --

In pursuit of the next generation of talent, Cartoon Network announced the launch of their brand new initiative, Imagination Studios, a creative online platform to inspire, motivate and celebrate the wild imagination of children across Africa.

The initiative will encourage children aged nine to 14 to explore their artistic talents via an online website. Cartoon Network Imagination Studios provides a sneak-peek into the Cartoon Network Studios, giving children insight into the making of their favourite cartoons, encouraging imaginative, unfiltered, creative thinking and providing constructive entertainment.

The channel s own artists and creators, such as Ben Bocquelet (The Amazing World of Gumball), Rebecca Sugar (Steven Universe) and many more will accompany children on their journey through the site, with tips and guidance on how to create their own characters, animate and tell stories. The children will then be able to enjoy the wide range of activities featured on the site, including drawing, colouring, storyboarding, music, special effects, voiceovers, movement and animation. Inspiring and directing trains of thought towards conceptualising and creating their very own character creations.

To kick-off the initiative across Africa, Imagination Studios is hosting a competition. To enter children need to follow a special theme: Humour and Comedy. Children will be challenged to create the next Cartoon Network prankster that will have stoic characters like Ice Bear from Cartoon Network s latest success We Bare Bears, in stitches.

After finding inspiration on the Cartoon Network Imagination Studios website, children will have the opportunity to enter their very own original, unique creations be it a new character drawing, storyboard or animation into the Imagination Studios competition, which has three different categories: Drawings, Stories or Films.

The deadline for entries is 30 April 2016 and by entering, children will qualify to stand a chance of winning a Cartoon Network Imagination Studio Award.

Prizes for the winning creations will consist of a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and getting the opportunity to see their creations come to life, as each winning project will be aired across Africa on Cartoon Network (DStv channel 301).

With Imagination Studios, Cartoon Network would like to provide children with the unique opportunity to express their creativity through whichever medium they like best, said Pierre Branco, vice president, Southern Europe and Africa for Turner International.

The website is an important milestone in the network s commitment to helping children learn and develop their skills online using the channel s affinity with young audiences to do so, said Branco.

The Cartoon Network Imagination Studios microsite is currently live across Cartoon Network websites for country feeds in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
