WRAL-TV Marketing Director Marian Bell and Corp Director of Content Andrea Osborne participated in the Leadership Triangle Regional Class this winter and spring, culminating in the graduation celebration held at the Durham Bulls in the PNC Triangle Club.
I wanted to participate in Leadership Triangle Regional program because several other CBC employees had gone thru the course and had made some lasting personal and professional contacts, so I wanted to see what it was all about, explained Bell. Also, I wanted to explore new areas and ideas that may spark my interest in terms of future involvement.
The 22 participants met bi-weekly over four months in different locations in the Triangle. One class involved a tour of the towns of Hillsborough and Carrboro, while another focused on sustainability and met at Maple View Farm in Chatham County. The American Underground in Durham hosted a class on entrepreneurship to name another.

My most fun class was touring Maple View Farm and learning about bees as well, said Bell. Who knew there was a huge, working farm right outside Chapel Hill?
Bell also said, The place I would definitely visit again - Hillsborough. What a cool, small town, full of shops, restaurants and a river walk!
Osborne took the Personal Leadership class, which is now known as Transforming Leaders, in the fall of 2003, so she became a double Goodmon Fellow at the May graduation.
Both of my experiences with Leadership Triangle classes have been life-changing, said Osborne. I learned so much about the community around me, as well as invaluable lessons about being a good leader. And the connections I made with other people in my class will be instrumental in helping me continue to grow in the future. I am a better person and will be a better leader, because of Leadership Triangle.

Bell agreed.
I loved the diversity of the class in terms of backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, occupations, interests and passions, said Bell. Even though I have lived in the Triangle since I moved here for college, the Leadership Triangle Regional Program enabled me to visit places I either didn't know existed or had not been in YEARS! For me, the most eye-opening class was our trip to Healing Transitions in Raleigh. What emotional stories and what an incredible program! I was so glad to be offered the opportunity to take part in this course!
The Goodmon Fellows are named for CBC President and CEO Jim Goodmon, who is the chair emeritus of the LT Board. He took part in the graduation ceremony alongside his son, ATC Vice President of Real Estate Michael Goodmon, current chair of the Board. FOX 50 Director of Local and New Media Sales Niel Sollod also participated as a member of the LT Board.
Besides the Regional Class, Leadership Triangle includes a Transforming Leaders class, as well as a program for Executive new to the Triangle and a College Edition. Applications are currently being accepted for Transforming Leaders, a personal leadership program held each fall. Find out more HERE.
