Award-winning actress Connie Ferguson plays a more prominent role as Veronica Masire, who is her late husband Shona Ferguson's on-screen twin sister in Kings of Joburg.

CONNIE FERGUSON AS VERONICA IN SEASON TWO The producer-actress Connie Ferguson appears as Veronica alongside Gomora's Zolisa Xaluva, who has to carry the dark family secret his on-screen brother Simon Masire (played by Shona Ferguson) carried in season one.

Veronica disappeared from her family decades ago after she was sexually abused and travelled the world to escape her terrible past.

MORE SPOILERS FROM KINGS OF JOBURG' SEASON TWO The opening scene of Kings of Joburg season two shows Mogomotsi Mo' Masire (played by Zolisa Xaluva) burying his brother Simon Masire (played by the late Shona Ferguson) after shooting and killing him.

Talented actor Thapelo Mokoena, who replaces Sello Sebotsana as a detective is also the son of Sello Maake KaNcube's character. This means the detective is Veronica and Mo's Masire's cousin.

Maake KaNcube's role is the Masire sibling's uncle, who is out to destroy them.

Phumzi (played by Cindy Mahlangu) reveals to her boyfriend Mo that she's a detective undercover and confirms she's pregnant with his baby.

Mo regrets killing Simon as the curse continues with him even after Simon dies and the mermaid demands another sacrifice.

Connie Ferguson first appeared as a Masire Mermaid, who tortured Simon Masire in season one it turns out she's also the daughter of the older mermaid who is torturing Mo Masire in season two.

QUESTION: If Veronica is the daughter of the current Masire Mermaid, does it mean that she has the power to end the curse?

According to News24, Connie Ferguson revealed in an interview with Newzroom that the Netflix series was about to go into pre-production when her husband, Shona, died.

The Queen actress-producer added that the scripts were approved and were about to go into pre-production when they contracted Covid-19.

We lost him, so we paused everything. I didn't even know whether I'd have the strength to continue with Kings of Jo'burg because it was a Sho project. He was so passionate about this baby. First of all, I didn't wanna let him down, and I didn't know if I would have the strength to do it without him because he was a big part of it. she said in the interview.

So we went back, got together with Sabelo Sabelo is our writer for Kings of Jo'burg and he was very excited about how he could redirect the script, she told Ramela. I think we managed to come up with an exciting story that people will be excited to watch. We're excited for them to see Kings of Jo'burg season 2.

It was hard to do without him, but at the same time, I just had this thing that I was going to do this for my husband and for me.
