With the advancement of camera and display technologies towards a higher dynamic range, the broadcast world is facing a change. High Dynamic Range (HDR) is one of the major topics in the television industry, perceived by the viewer as a visible improvement in image quality and has a greater impact on the viewing experience than the increase in resolution or frame rate.

As a subject of a Master thesis in cooperation with the Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart (HdM) different possibilities for the simultaneous delivery of SDR and HDR signals are to be tested. For this purpose, a test-setup with hardware from different manufacturers is designed and implemented.

To record test sequences in the studio environment of the university various lighting conditions are simulated in different sceneries under realistic conditions. For example, the contrast ratios of a stadium in the shade and the sun are measured and readjusted in this test environment.
