RT had six winners across ten categories at last night's RTS Ireland awards which took place in Dublin's Liberty Hall Theatre with host Dermot Whelan at the helm. The ceremony honoured the outstanding achievements in Irish television programming over the past year and highlighted the many talented professionals in Ireland's TV industry.
Commenting, RT Director-General, Kevin Bakhurst said: Congratulations to all our winners and nominees in this year's RTS Ireland Television Awards which took place in Liberty Hall last night. Sitting in the room, I was equally proud of and impressed by the standard of the programmes made by you and our partners in the independent sector which reflected so well on RT after many challenging months. Across drama, factual, young people's programmes, news and current affairs, entertainment and investigations, the stories, so excellently told, represented many different aspects of life in Ireland today and were a significant reminder of the value of what we do, and the important role RT continues to play. I'd like to also thank the RTS for surprising Bryan Dobson with a tribute expertly prepared by RT Newsroom colleagues- acknowledging his incredible career as one of our finest broadcasters and journalists.
