RT Radio 1 Folk Awards Shortlist Announced

RT has today announced the shortlist for the 6th RT Radio 1 Folk Awards which will celebrate the very best in Irish folk music from the past year in Vicar Street, Dublin on Tuesday 27th February at 7.45pm and live on RT Radio 1 from 8pm.

RT moved the Awards from November 2023 to February 2024 to better reflect the full calendar year of folk music and performances and to continue to honour our wonderful folk artists and musicians.

Here is the shortlist for the 6th RT Radio 1 Folk Awards:

RT RADIO 1 FOLK AWARDS HALL OF FAME

Uileann piper, singer and collector S amus Ennis will also be inducted into the RT Radio 1 Folk Awards Hall of Fame on the night. His son Christopher Ennis will be among the guests of honour at Vicar Street on the night.

The Lifetime Achievement Award winner for 2023 will be announced in early February, in advance of the awards. Previous winners are Mary Black (2022), Christy Moore (2021), Steve Cooney (2020), Moya Brennan (2019) and Andy Irvine (2018).

In what promises to be a very special night celebrating Irish folk music, the awards will feature live performances from many of this year's nominees, including Eoghan Ceannabh in, Niamh Bury and Bl th na h ige, piper Sorcha N Scola and international stars Johnny McEvoy and Rhiannon Giddens. RT presenter John Creedon will again host the awards ceremony in front of a live audience.

Tickets for the RT Radio 1 Folk Awards are on sale now via www.ticketmaster.ie and are priced at 33.10, inclusive of booking fee and service charge. Facility fee of 1 applies.
