Export of Xiangshan County Boomed in the First Quarter

As sources from Xiangshan Merchants Bureau suggested, in the first quarter the county's exports and imports totaled 0.54 billion dollars, up 0.3 year-on-year, achieving the largest increase in Ningbo. Among it, export reached 0.51 billion dollars, up 3.2% over last year.

Confronted with the new normal in economy, Xiangshan county endeavored to help enterprises out with a series of measures, including improving policies, constructing platforms and enhancing services. Besides, it also deliberated on a policy package, set up public service platforms and promoted activities aimed at serving enterprises like the Service Month . By doing so, it assisted enterprises in adversity and boosted their confidence by stronger support and guidance.

Among all the trades, export of machine and electronics, totaling 0.19 billion dollars with a 13.6% year-on-year increase, made the greatest contribution to the growth of the county's foreign trade in the first quarter. Among it, the export of high-tech products hiked, reaching 49.58 million dollars, up 307.4%. However, the textile industry, the leading industry of the county, achieved only 0.223 billion dollars in export, dropping 1.2%, and meanwhile, slide also appeared in export of agricultural products which totaled 54.79 million dollars, down 9.9%,

As to the distribution of the companies that progressed in their export, leading enterprises served as a strong force in advancing foreign trade, while small and micro businesses showed weak development. According to statistics, the total export of the top 50 enterprises in the county amounted to 0.42 billion dollars, occupying 83.2% of the total volume. The number has risen by 18%, an increase higher than the county's average. Of all the enterprises, many achieved a growth rate of over 50%, including QXPV, the Federated, Ginlong Technologies, Fufan Import & Export, Yun Run Garment, Lanyang Aquatic Food, etc. Together they bolstered the development of the county's export. Nevertheless, small and micro businesses, with comparatively inadequate risistance against risks, undergone a tough period during which their export declined by 12.6%.

As regards to the target markets, export to emerging markets like ASEAN countries and Africa skyrocketed, both reaching over 50% increase. And to Asia, North America, EU, the traditional markets as well as main destinations for the county's goods, export totaled 0.4 billion dollars, rising by 2.3%. Meanwhile, America remained the county's largest export market, with trade volume reaching 0.126 billion dollars in the first quarter, up 4.6%. Faced with the downward pressure of the economy, the county will further improve its services to enterprises and strive to be a good leader with fine discrimination who will utilize the limited money to generate maximum benefits, so that it can better guide its economy of foreign trade for a sustainable and heathy development, said Hu Jinwen, director of the Merchants Bureau. He added that to realize the set goal of the year, the county will promote relevant activities to facilitate settlement of foreign companies which are also encouraged to purchase foreign goods, and it strived to attract non-local foreign trade companies as well as local businesses operating outside the county. Besides, it focused on the construction of platforms providing insurance and agency services and the work of prepaying refundable tax to firms, so as to alleviate capital problem of enterprises and reduce their risks in collecting export proceeds. Dissemination of information about exhibitions will be expedited at the same time, relying on social media like text message, QQ and relative websites. Also a list of important exhibitions will be released. All aimed at stimulating companies to expand their market, old or new.
