RT SECURES 24 NOMINATIONS FOR 2016 FESTIVAL CONOR MCGREGOR, DAVID MCSAVAGE AND BRENDAN OCARROLL AMONG IRISH NOMINEES FOR 2016 CELTIC MEDIA FESTIVAL AWARDS
The Celtic Media Festival has today (Thursday 3rd March) revealed the nominees for the prestigious Torc Awards for Excellence, and RT has featured across multiple categories, with Irish household names Conor McGregor, David McSavage and Brendan O'Carroll among the shortlist. The winners are set to be revealed at the 37th Festival in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, Ireland from 20th 22nd of April.
Among documentaries nominated is One Million Dubliners, the acclaimed story of Glasnevin Cemetery, produced by Underground Films in association with RT . The Notorious, looking at Conor McGregor s life behind closed doors, is nominated for a Torc Award for Excellence in Sport, while the nominations for Radio Presenter of the Year span Ireland, Scotland and Wales, with RT Raidi na Gaeltachta's D nall Mac Ruair on the shortlist. Brendan O'Carroll and David McSavage have secured nominations in the comedy category, while RT Investigations Unit were cited in the current affairs category. RT also secured nominations for animation, factual, digital app, and innovation.
RT jr Radio and RT Raidi na Gaeltachta secured two prestigious positions in the Radio Station of the Year category, and RT Radio 1, RT lyric fm and RT Raidi na Gaeltachta secured nominations across radio documentary, radio sport, music and magazines.
The 37th Celtic Media Festival takes place over 20th 22nd April 2016 and will see hundreds of delegates enjoy a packed festival programme in Dungarvan, County Waterford. Supported by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, Waterford City and County Council, TG4, BBC Scotland, RT , MG ALBA, S4C, Northern Ireland Screen, BBC Northern Ireland and BBC Cymru Wales, the festival consistently attracts international delegates wherever it is held and offers a programme that celebrates the influential media industry of the Celtic nations and regions, as well as providing networking opportunities for delegates and speakers alike.
