
SHARJAH GOVERNMENT MEDIA BUREAU REGISTERS STRONG PRESENCE AT ARAB MEDIA FORUM IN KUWAIT; COMMENDED FOR INITIATIVES LIKE IGCF
HE Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Kuwaiti Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Information, has lauded the participation of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) in the 14th edition of the Arab Media Forum and stressed the pioneering role played by Sharjah in developing government communication mechanisms and media cooperation across the GCC region. This came during his visit to the Sharjah stand at the Forum.
Expressing his pleasure over the Sharjah delegation's strong presence and participation in the Arab Media Forum, the Minister said that the Emirate's keenness on greater cooperation and exchange of expertise is underpinned by the long history that binds Sharjah and Kuwait together. HE Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah also praised Sharjah's continuing efforts to preserve its rich Arab and Islamic heritage, culture and knowledge.
The Sharjah delegation to the Arab Media Forum in Kuwait was led by HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the media and public relations arm of the Government of Sharjah, registered strong presence at the Forum, holding several presentations about Sharjah and the role of SGMB and its various events and activities such as the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) and Government Communication Award (GCA), besides hosting other delegates and movers and shakers of the media industry in the region.
A number of senior members of other Arab delegations and government media entities visited the Sharjah stand at the Arab Media Forum in the Kuwait City. This included HE Ali bin Mohammed Al-Rumaihi, Minister of Information Affairs of Bahrain, who praised the Emirate of Sharjah for leading the way in the promotion of government communication and media cooperation with its flagship event IGCF and Government Communication Award. Commending Sharjah's efforts in the field of government communication, Al-Rumaihi said the Emirate represents the first destination for those wishing to learn and catch up on this front.
The two Ministers also browsed the various publications brought out by the Bureau, including a special book on the immensely popular IGCF, profiling diverse experiences and case studies by top media experts, decision makers and leaders of international institutions in the field of government communication, including recommendations by the Forum.
On this occasion, Madi Al-Khamis, Secretary General of the Arab Media Forum, thanked the SGMB delegation for showcasing the Bureau's pioneering initiatives and experience in the field of government communication, thereby benefiting other delegates and visitors to the Forum.
Expressing his satisfaction at the successful participation in the Arab Media Forum, Kuwait, Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of the SGMB, underlined the Bureaus continuing efforts to strengthen cooperation with the media in the wider Arab world and bolster the bonds of cooperation with various government media entities in the GCC. He said the Bureau is pleased to share Sharjah's successful experience in the vital sector of government communication with other stakeholders in the region.
As part of its participation in the Kuwait forum, the Sharjah delegation made several presentations about the process of participation in the prestigious Government Communication Award, which in its fourth edition included two categories dedicated for the GCC countries the Best Government Social Media Engagement and Best Government Communication Campaign.
A number of influencers and prominent names in the media industry from across the GCC also visited the SGMB stand to apprise themselves more about the IGCF and GCA. They affirmed the importance of the Bureau's efforts and initiatives in developing government communication mechanisms at both the regional and international levels. The Sharjah stand was also visited by HE Ibrahim Al Abed, Advisor to the Chairman of National Media Council, and Sami Al Riyami, Editor-in-Chief of Emarat Al Youm newspaper.
