SMPTE TC-32NF Issues Survey on Flow Management in Professional Media Networks

Objective Is To Collect Information from Users and Technology Providers on Requirements for Flow Control in Professional Media Networks

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - May 9, 2016 - The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE ), a leader in motion-imaging standards and education for the media, entertainment, and technology industries,today announced that the SMPTE Technology Committee on Network/Facilities Architecture (TC-32NF) Study Group on Flow Management in Professional Media Networks has issued a questionnaire on flow management in professional media networks. The objective of this questionnaire is to collect information from users on requirements for flow control in professional media networks. These requirements will drive the TC-32NF Study Groups evaluation of switching approaches in professional media networks, network congestion measurement, and the signaling of control commands needed to enable such switching.

The information collected in this survey will be presented in a summarized fashion in a report to be issued later by the TC-32NF Study Group on Flow Management in PMNs. Responses will be treated as anonymous in the report. Response documents will not be made available to the public. Responses will provide valuable information that will be used to guide the study group in recommending future standardization efforts. All interested parties are invited to respond to this questionnaire. Interested parties do not have to be members of SMPTE to respond.

The survey closes on June 17, 2016. Responses in advance of the deadline are acceptable and encouraged, and partial responses are perfectly acceptable.
