4 Xu Xiake Traveling Festival held

May 19 of 2016 marks the 403rd anniversary of the composition of the "Travels of Xu Xiake", as well as the sixth "China Tourism Day". On the morning of May 19, people gathered on the Westgate Square of Ninghai County to commemorate Xu Xiake and celebrate the festival with singing and dancing.

As the starting place of the Travels of Xu Xiake, Ninghai County has started the annual "Xu Xiake Traveling Festival" since 2002. It also initiated the application of the "Xu Xiake Route" for "world linear cultural heritage", which has been echoed by the cities along the route. Various activities have helped to build up the brand of "starting place of China Tourism Day" and the image of "a tranquil county".

The traveling day starting ceremony and the "college students walking on the ancient Xu Xiake Road" activity were held at the opening ceremony of the traveling festival.

It is reported that during the festival, Ninghai County will continue to cooperate with the key cities along the "Xu Xiake Traveling Route" to apply for the world linear cultural heritage. Meanwhile, a series of cultural and tourist activities will be carried out, including the Chinese Poetry Summit, the tourism business fair, the issue of the Xu Xiake traveling route tours, and college students walking on Xu Xiakes route, to build the Xu Xiake traveling brand and conduct the win-win cooperation.

In recent years, Ninghai County has accelerated the construction of the tourist infrastructure and developed its tourist resources and tourist brands, making tourism a leading industry for modern services industry and an important industry for the local economic development, with its great contribution to the countys GDP growth. In 2015, Ninghai received 10.64 million visits, and the tourism revenue reached 11.73 billion yuan.
