GoPro for a Cause Partners with the Range of Motion Project

Last evening, GoPro for a Cause had the honor of hosting a fundraising event for The Range of Motion Project (ROMP), a non-profit healthcare organization dedicated to providing prosthetic and orthotic care to those without access.

ROMP takes an innovative approach to providing the underserved populations of Guatemala and Ecuador with affordable prosthetics. The organization has delivered more than 2,600 devices since 2005 at a pace of roughly 350 devices each year. Right now, ROMP has 436 patients on the waiting list, and GoPro for a Cause was excited to help ROMP raise funds and share the story of their incredible work through a 3-part GoPro-produced short video series.

On Thursday evening, family and friends of the organization joined us to premiere the series and explore how prosthetic care has changed the lives of some of ROMP's most inspiring patients. Olympic silver medalist, 2016 Paralympian and Long Jump American Record Holder, Trenten Merrill, shares the story of how prosthesis changed his life, and ROMP CEO and Executive Director, David Krupa, introduced the evening's feature premiere: the story of Guatemalan firefighter, Luisa, on her journey back into the career she loves with a new prosthetic from ROMP.

GoPro for a Cause exists to extend our core mission - to enable people to capture and share their experiences with the world in immersive and engaging ways - to nonprofits, altruistic individuals and organizations looking to promote their movements and share their work. We're so inspired by stories behind ROMP, and have been looking forward to this opportunity to bring awareness to their cause and help raise funds for their continued work.

Food and cocktails at the fundraising event were provided by La Cocina, a food incubator that cultivates low-income food entrepreneurs by providing guidance, affordable commercial kitchen space, industry-specific technical assistance and access to opportunities in the Bay Area.
