Ningbo Sealed Export Deals Wor Nearly $. Billion Totally in Canton Fair

On May 5th, the 119th Canton Fair, reputed as weathervane of Chinese foreign trade , came to an end. According to Ningbo Municipal Commission of Commerce, this time Ningbo has sealed export deals worth 1.196 bn dollars totally, up 1.36% over last session.

As regards the composition of exports, in phase one household appliances, lighting products and electronics rounded out the top three with America, Europe and ASEAN as the top three buyers.

In phase two, household items, kitchenware and gifts ranked top three, with the largest buyers being America, Europe and Asia.

In phase three, clothing, stationary and home textiles are the top three in sales with the same top three buyers as those of phase two.

Statistics indicated that the 119th Canton Fair witnessed a slight increase in the number of foreign purchasers. A total of 185,596 from 210 countries and regions gathered there, rising by 4.5% over last session, 0.43% over the one before last session.

As to the buyers, our traditional markets including the developed economies remained stable. Export to America increased conspicuously, up 2.61% year-on-year; and that to Canada was up 2.54%, to EU 0.77%.

Meanwhile, export to emerging markets and developing countries was gainingmomentum, especially in the countries along the route of the Belt and Road Initiative. The growth rate was 0.46%, exceeding the average level.

Besides, buyers from countries along the route of the Belt and Road Initiative showed obvious growth, climbing by 0.80% and accounting for 43.97% of the total. Rise in ASEAN and SAARC were prominent, reaching 6.01% and 5.65% respectively. Except Brazil, export to Mercosur countries increased by 11.66%, surpassing the overall growth rate.
