27 10 2016 - Media release SCREEN AUSTRALIA CONGRATULATES THE 2016 AACTA AWARD NOMINEES Screen Australia congratulates the talented screen practitioners nominated for this year's AACTA Awards.
We know it's been a boom year for Australian television, features production is strong and short-form multiplatform content is exploding across our small screens. I am delighted to see so many of these titles, and the creatives behind them, recognised for their outstanding contributions to the Australian screen sector in this year's stellar list of AACTA Award nominees, said Screen Australia CEO, Graeme Mason.
Screen Australia is particularly proud to have been involved as a major partner in funding a long list of AACTA nominated titles across the television, features, documentary and short film award categories.
As our recent milestone study Screen Currency confirmed, Australians want to see their own stories on screen and the economic and cultural contribution of our screen sector should be a source of pride for the whole industry.
Screen Australia provides direct development and production funding, as well as financial support for marketing and advertising. The agency also administers the Producer Offset, which has been utilised by many titles including Hacksaw Ridge, and the Co-production Program, which facilitates internationally co-produced titles such as Beat Bugs.
The below AACTA Award nominated titles have received development and/or production funding from Screen Australia.
