ESPN has promoted Nate Ravitz to Vice President of Audience Development, a new role in which Ravitz will oversee programming of digital content across ESPN.com and the ESPN App, in addition to his existing responsibilities leading ESPN-branded social media content, mobile push notifications and digital video. Ravitz also will manage the new ESPN Daily email newsletter. He will continue to report to Ryan Spoon, Senior Vice President of Digital Product Management.
Over the last three years, as Senior Director of Digital Video and Push Operations, Ravitz has led teams driving growth of ESPN's digital product and editorial content through the development of new content types and platforms. This includes the Now section on ESPN.com and the ESPN App, as well as ESPN on Snapchat Discover, which received a 2015 Sports Emmy Award nomination. Last year, after assuming responsibility for digital video curation and distribution across ESPN platforms and over-the-top devices, Ravitz drove immediate gains in video starts, conversions and starts per visit.
Nate has been such an important piece of ESPN Digital and contributed in so many areas, in so many significant ways, said Spoon. His promotion is more than well deserved, and we look forward to Nate and his team continuing to drive a cohesive programming and growth strategy across all of our digital platforms, from ESPN.com to the ESPN App to social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat.
Ravitz joined ESPN in 2007 as a General Editor for ESPN Fantasy, a hybrid role that included writing and editing fantasy content and co-hosting the highly popular Fantasy Focus Football Podcast and Fantasy Focus Baseball Podcast with Matthew Berry. In 2008, Ravitz was elevated to Deputy Editor, overseeing all aspects of ESPN Fantasy content for ESPN.com, and in 2011 he was promoted to Senior Director of Fantasy and Premium Content, adding ESPN Insider content and business strategy to his slate.
Ravitz has collected several editorial awards and honors. He was inducted into the Fantasy Sports Writers Association Hall of Fame in 2012, and he is a seven-time PodcastAwards.com winner for his work on ESPN's Fantasy Focus Football Podcast , including five for Best Sports Podcast and two for People's Choice. In 2007, Ravitz won a Sports Emmy for Best New Approach, Coverage, for his on-air work for ESPN's Fantasy Football Now.
Prior to joining ESPN, Ravitz was Executive Director at CDM Fantasy Sports, where he led all content operations, including content for Rototimes.com, CDM Fantasy Sports, and two annual preview magazines for which he served as Editor-in-Chief.
