Dimetis software supports switching for Geo-Blocking at BR

Dietzenbach, Germany - March 18th, 2013 - The digital broadcast industry is growing rapidly and so are the new challenges associated. One of these challenges is the capability to restrict specific content to the licensed area: the Geo-Blocking .

Dimetis has recently released a new Geo-Blocking feature for its BOSS BROADCAST Manager product. The Geo-Blocking feature evaluates the necessary information received from the demand management system of the broadcast organization, and automatically provides simultaneous feeds with differentiated contents for users in the licensed region and for those outside. The system also provides the end user with information about the next transmission feed. Thanks to the automation of this traditionally very manual procedure, the broadcast organization can achieve significant OPEX reduction.

Das Erste (First German Television) and Bayerische Rundfunk (Bavarian Broadcasting) are two of the first customers to deploy Dimetis' Geo-blocking feature. Their content is distributed with two feeds: one of them contains the Geo-Blocking information and therefore it is only available in Germany, the other signal can be received by users all over the world.

Dimetis is going to present the innovative Geo-Blocking feature at NAB 2013 in Las Vegas (April 8 to 11, 2013) booth SU 9714.
