NITV are pleased to announce that after a successful first series, culinary food documentary Strait to the Plate will be returning for a second season in 2022, airing on NITV and SBS Food.
Actor, producer and director Aaron Fa'aoso will return to screens for another tantalising series of Strait to the Plate, giving viewers more delectable content and signature culinary delights from the Torres Strait Islands.
Produced by Lonestar Productions in Cairns and supported by the Queensland Government via Screen Queensland's Screen Finance Program, Strait to the Plate takes audiences on a journey through the Torres Strait Islands, serving up 6 episodes full of stories, laughter and, of course, fantastic food.
Aaron Fa'aoso said: I'm absolutely thrilled to be a part of another season of Strait to the Plate. The inspiration behind the series has always been to educate Australians on the Torres Strait Islander food, culture, language and way of life and after what was a great first season and taster for audiences, I'm excited to be continuing this food journey, shining the spotlight on the beautiful and unique part of the world through the incredible food.
Director of Indigenous Content at Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Australia and NITV, Tanya Denning-Orman said: We are proud to be able to bring another season of Strait to the Plate to life and continue to not only spotlight the delicious and inspiring food that comes from the contemporary Torres Strait Islands, but also the beautiful culture, history and tradition as well. NITV Head of Commissioning and Programming, Kyas Hepworth said: Strait to the Plate is a series which we're so passionate about at NITV. Season one tours the spectacular Islands of Badu, Poruma, Moa, Seisia, Injinoo and New Mapoon, and we look forward to seeing even more picturesque destinations and food traditions explored in season two, for Australian and international viewers to enjoy.
Strait to the Plate will be served up to NITV and SBS Food in 2022.
