MAHLE and Rohde & Schwarz develop application for sensor testing of modern driver assistance systems Technology groups MAHLE and Rohde & Schwarz have jointly developed a technical application that, for the first time, enables the reliable testing of sensors in modern Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) following a repair. At the core of the new platform is MAHLE Lifecycle and Mobilitys TechPRO Digital ADAS 2.0 Extra calibration system, extended by the R&S RadEsT radar tester from Rohde & Schwarz - an established provider of high-precision electronic measurement and communications technology. Until now, standardized measurement procedures for testing ADAS sensors after accidents or repairs - particularly to body parts - have been lacking. MAHLE and Rohde & Schwarz are now closing this gap. The new development is suitable for a wide range of users, including auto repair shops, service centers, manufacturers, as well as insurance companies, authorities, and inspection organizations. Going forward, it can also be used for future static inspections of ADAS sensors as part of the periodic technical inspection. The joint innovation will be presented on June 11, 2026, at the T V MobiCon 2026 in Berlin.

With this innovation, we are taking driver assistance systems to the next level. For the first time, their functionality after a repair becomes measurable, traceable, and standardizable. This is not only a technological advancement - it is a decisive step toward greater safety, transparency, and trust across the entire mobility ecosystem, said Felix-Matthias Walter, Director Service Solutions at MAHLE Lifecycle and Mobility.

The TechPRO Digital ADAS 2.0 Extra calibration system from MAHLE uses integrated ultrasonic sensors to ensure precise vehicle positioning directly from the interior. Automatic vehicle identification, laser-based distance measurement, and motorized adjustment of the target systems enable an efficient calibration process. An optimized display lift system additionally guarantees precise alignment even for particularly tall vehicles.

The R&S RadEsT radar tester from Rohde & Schwarz adds capabilities beyond those of pure calibration devices - such as frequency and polarization detection, power measurement, and target and angle simulation for radar sensors. With this feature, technicians can verify and identify the correct alignment and function of radar sensors following repairs or damage using the MAHLE TechPRO 2 diagnostic tool.

The joint development covers several key application areas. Following repairs, it provides workshops with standardized and documented confirmation that the driver assistance system continues to operate within specification. It is also suited for quality and performance testing, since both correct and faulty system states can be deliberately simulated. Finally, the system generates reproducible and audit-proof measurement data that can serve as the basis for periodic technical inspection procedures, regulatory requirements, or insurance assessments in the future.
