South African Afropop and house music singer Msaki, real name Asanda Mvana, has pleaded with everyone to release her as she takes a music hiatus.

MSAKI: MY SKIN IS NOT THICK' The singer has mesmerized Mzansi with her golden voice and uplifting lyrics for a decade now, among her hits are Ubomi Abumanga and Fetch Your Life. In recent weeks, Msaki has been hinting that she is going through a rough emotional phase. In November 2022, she posted a tweet revealing that she would be taking a break from the music scene and said she would continue to honor her bookings.

It seems as though the shocking allegations of cheating and negativity online, tormented her and she needs a break to re-energize. In a heartbreaking tweet shared on Friday 20 January, the Ubomi Abumanga hitmaker thanked everyone for the incredible outpouring of love and support ever since she released her first album.

Msaki went on to plead with everyone to release her as she takes a break from the music industry.

I just wanna thank everyone for this incredible outpouring of love and support. I wanna thank my day 1's that are still with me that bought my first album in advance and who gave me my independence. Please also understand why I have to leave this space. Please release me. I may seem weak because I let this get to me, she wrote.

But I am sensitive and sentimental, an empath (this is my most valuable creativity tool), and my skin is not thick. It is porous so I feel the changes in the breeze. I'm moved quickly and deeply and I understand this may be abnormal. I don't expect everyone to understand, but I know some of you get it, she continued.

THE SINGER: BE KIND TO MY COLLEAGUES The singer recently rubbished claims that she's a homewrecker after she was rumored to have been embroiled in a shocking cheating scandal involving 5FM radio host Afrika Smash Afrika Mdutyulwa and his estranged wife Kefiloe Chuene. Msaki said she cannot handle this callus badgering and normalization bullying.

Furthermore, she called on everyone to be kind to her industry colleagues, noting that they are also sensitive.

The same sensitivity where my songs come from is the same sensitivity that cannot handle this callus badgering and normalization bullying. Allow me to take my leave for wholeness. Please remember me as the one who said we are not meant to take this even if it comes with the territory. I stand for them as I leave, she wrote.

We need to love more. Please don't push people to the edge and only have empathy after they become statistics. Be kind to my colleagues, we are just people. We need more gentleness and grace for each other. Please can we change? she continued.
