Belarus takes over functions of the Chairman of Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network from Georgia 06.11.2015

The 6th Plenary Session of Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg) was held in Chisinau (Republic of Moldova) on November 5, 2015.

In accordance with the unanimous decision of the Regulators Network members, the Republic of Belarus represented by the Ministry of Communications and Informatization was chosen the Chairman of EaPeReg Network for 2016. Latvia, representing the European Union, was chosen the Deputy Chairman of EaPeReg Network for 2016.

The EaPeReg Project - Eastern Partnership (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine) Electronic Communications Regulators Network is an independent platform of National Regulatory Authorities for Electronic Communications Networks and Services.

The main objective of the project is to contribute to the social and economic development of partner countries by supporting the development of their electronic communications markets through a strengthened long-term cooperation between the European Union and the Eastern Partnership countries in this area.

The major source of funding of the activities of EaPeReg Network is the technical assistance project for electronic communications regulators of the Eastern Partnership countries, financed by the European Union.

The decision to choose the Republic of Belarus the Chairman of EaPeReg Network for 2016 will promote the interests of the Republic of Belarus in the field of electronic communications within the framework of "Eastern Partnership", including the initiatives to harmonize the digital markets of the European Union and the Eastern Partnership member countries, strengthen the international image of the Republic of Belarus as one of the leading countries in the information and communication technologies development, and contribute to further development of partnership relations between the Republic of Belarus and the European Union.
