Operations Manager

Based in Johannesburg: to provide effective operational, logistical management of the film school, ensuring that its day-to-day operations run smoothly while providing executive assistance to the CEO, supervising the contractual obligations for funders and maintaining overall custodianship of the brand.

Operational management:

Contract management

HR functions including skills planning

Manage the server filing and ensure that data integrity is upheld

Oversee evaluation and problem solving to ensure continued improvement of systems and processes

Event management

Overall management of the brand and ensuring all external communication meets the standard

Writing and posting of press releases and newsletters

Management of distribution lists and contact database

Typing of correspondence, filing and tracking of same

Setting up of required meetings

Managing the diary of the CEO

Management of all travel bookings for the CEO

Essential person requirements:

Recognised qualification or demonstrable work experience in administration, journalism or business communications

At least five years' experience as an operations / office manager, or executive level assistant with demonstrated ability to work in an efficient and effective manner

Care: an caring attitude should be apparent through all dealings with employees, participants and the work that is produced

Excellent organisational skills

Adaptability, flexibility and confidence

Experience in communicating with a range of people - from captains of industry through to scholarship participants

Strong computer processing skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Demonstrated experience of organising events and programmes

Able to be pro-active and take ownership and be a team player

Diplomacy and ability to build relationships

Strong communication skills, both written and spoken

Good timekeeping skills and demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines

Ability to remain calm under pressure

Desirable requirements:

Experience of working for or with the non-profit sector

An interest in making a difference

Exposure to and working with legal documents would be advantageous

Additional information:

Salary band: dependent on experience

Working hours: 40 hours per week minimum

Annual leave: strictly determined by school holiday closures
