2FM is delighted to continue our partnership with the RT Choice Music Prize for the 8th year running. The RT Choice Music Prize is an important annual event in the wider Irish music landscape, and we're delighted to be able to continue to celebrate all that is great about Irish music and Irish artists. The inclusion of the Irish Artist of the Year', Irish Breakthrough Artist of the Year' and Classic Irish Album' categories for the 2nd year running, coupled with the longstanding Irish Song of the Year' and the preeminent Irish Album of the Year' prizes allow us to more broadly represent the incredible past, present and exciting future of Irish music. 2FM will continue its support as the flagship partner station with content and promos across our platforms over the coming months, and this will be reflected more widely across the entire organisation as we get closer to the awards night. RT 2FM's Head of Music, Adam Fogarty
RT Choice Music Prize Conversations will take place at BIMM, Francis St, Dublin on Thursday 7th March. Conversations is an international music forum designed to encourage frank exchanges amongst both panellists and the audiences to challenge some of the biggest prevailing issues confronting artists and industry professionals.
RT Choice Music Prize will once again celebrate the best in Irish recorded music. The Prize has become one of the music-industry highlights of the year since its inception in 2005. The Irish Album of the Year prize only is chosen from a shortlist of ten albums by a panel of eleven Irish music media professionals and industry experts. The winning AOTY act will receive 10,000, a prize fund which has been provided by The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and The Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA). All shortlisted acts will receive a specially commissioned award on the night.
IRMA are delighted to continue their association with the RT Choice Music Prize. The talent that exists within the Irish Music scene right now across many genres is very impressive and the RT Choice Music Prize continues to shine a light both domestically and internationally on quality Irish Music across a number of key award categories. IRMA is looking forward to the week of shortlist announcements beginning on January 8th and to the Live Event on March 7th Willie Kavanagh, Chairman of IRMA

About the RT Choice Music Prize
The RT Choice Music Prize is organised by David Reid. Editor of RT Brainstorm, Jim Carroll is the chairman of the judging panel (for AOTY). It is unique in that the judging of the Irish Album of the Year focuses simply and solely on the music (as opposed to sales or airplay). The full list of judges for the
Various prizes will be on the RT Choice Music Prize website from w/c 8th January. This is the 19th year of the prize. Past winners can be found via http://www.choicemusicprize.ie/past-prizes/
The RT Choice Music Prize Live Event will be dedicated to the memories of Sin ad O'Connor and Brian Geraghty (RT ), both of whom passed away earlier this year. Sin ad was the first winner of the Classic Irish Album category and attended the Live Event earlier this year to accept the prize; Brian was central to securing RT 's support of the RT Choice Music Prize and, as a true advocate, remained closely involved.
