America Television Champions National Live Streaming, VOD Delivery and Personalization with Ooyala
12 May 2016
Peru's largest broadcaster averages 20 million video plays per month with Ooyala
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (May 12, 2016) -- Ooyala, a Telstra subsidiary and a leading innovator in premium video publishing, analytics and monetization, is providing complete end-to-end video delivery, analytics, personalization and monetization solutions for the largest broadcaster in Peru, America Television. With Ooyala, America Television now sees an average of 20 million plays per month with a 55 percent conversion rate of website visitors to video watchers across four different multi-screen products: America Entretenimiento, America Deportes, America Noticias, and their live and video-on-demand (VOD) service, tvGO.
Owning 40 percent of the market share in Peru, America Television saw challenges in scaling its digital revenue as its audience continued to grow. They were spending too much time working on fixing technical issues rather than focusing on monetizing its content across all of its digital properties and audiences. Choosing Ooyala, America Television now has a reliable and robust video delivery system optimized for building a better and more lucrative video business.
The company also saw a boost in customer loyalty due to reliable player performance and overall video experience across devices, particularly mobile, after choosing Ooyala. This is important as 60 percent of its viewers consume content on mobile devices. Over the last year, the company saw a 166 percent increase in unique users per month, averaging eight million unique users per month in 2015, up from three million in 2014.
Using Ooyala IQ, the company receives real-time analytics across all of its digital properties. America Television receives the intelligence it needs to make better-informed business decisions regarding its content and video duration, something they were unable to do prior to selecting Ooyala. For example, the company found its audience watched on average one and a half minutes with short-form content and 17 minutes with long-form content in 2015, helping them pair the best strategies for both content and devices moving forward. Further, with Ooyala Discovery, Ooyala's content recommendation technology, the company is seeing a 10 to 15 percent boost in video viewing, with an average of four videos per user.
After considering a host of solution providers, we chose Ooyala as they proved to be the best partner in this space, said Jose Hernandez, head of the digital division at America Television. Ooyala is approachable and provides us with a hands-on partnership which we really valued. They've been eager to provide solutions since day one, and ensure that everything from delivery to performance monitoring is aligned with our business goals, which are focused on increasing monetization.
