Top Gun: Maverick fans have been asking for a sequel to the movie since its 2022 release. And who can blame them?

It was the second-highest grossing film of 2022 and the highest grossing film in the career of leading man, Tom Cruise.

ACTORS READY FOR TOP GUN: MAVERICK' SEQUEL Although a sequel has not officially been announced, fans and actors of the film are adamant that there should be a second movie.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Jay Ellis who played Reuben Payback Fitch in the hit movie spoke out.

My whole cast, we would all be there in a heartbeat. We would be grateful to be there, he said.

For director Joseph Kosinski it all depends on whether he can find the next story , according to US Weekly.

Is there another story that is compelling enough that we need to go back? It seems to me at the end of this film that Maverick has some gas left in the tank. He's not settling down, he told Deadline.

Ellis's co-star Miles Teller is also ready for a second movie, but told Entertainment Tonight that it's all up to Tom Cruise.

That would be great, but that's all up to TC. I've been having some conversations with him about it. We'll see.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer is for the time being also firmly focused on Tom Cruise and his Mission: Impossible commitments.

He's in the middle of shooting Mission: Impossible, he's got a lot of very difficult, hard stunts he's doing. It's not the time to take attention away from what's important to him right now, Bruckheimer told Variety.

WORKING WITH TOM CRUISE Apart from Ellis and Teller, Top Gun: Maverick also features Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Monica Barbaro, Danny Ramirez, Manny Jacinto and Greg Tarzan Davis who all compete for a spot in Maverick Mitchell's (Tom Cruise) team.

Jason Walsh, who trained Teller for his role as Bradley Rooster Bradshaw, told US Weekly that Tom Cruise star made sure the cast was physically prepared for the film.

Tom is a huge advocate of making sure that these guys are really put through the rigors and the tests, the fitness instructor said. You can see it on their face. When they're doing this, they're not faking it. This is real.

Davis, who played Javy Coyote Machado, said that the flight training was hard.

We also had to get sexy for the beach scene. So, it was a lot of starvation, a lot of anger, a lot of testosterone, just running wild like, I need food'. Once we got done filming the beach scene, we just devoured food, he said in a US Weekly interview.
