U Nimman Hotel Hosts World-Class Conventions with Advanced HARMAN Professional Solutions AV System

August 30, 2019 CHIANG MAI, Thailand- Mahajak Development Co. outfitted the best in class convention hall at the upscale U Nimman Chiang Mai hotel with a state-of-the-art HARMAN networked AV system.

U Nimman Chiang Mai is a five-star luxury hotel located in northern Thailand's largest city, built by Tan Passakornnatee and Tan Boon Company. In addition to 147 guest rooms and suites, the hotel features a 1,100 square-meter convention hall which can be split into three separate sections. To provide a high-quality audio and video solution for conventions, weddings and other events, U Nimman Chiang Mai hired Mahajak Development Co. to install an integrated HARMAN networked AV system including AMX network controllers, Soundcraft digital mixers, Crown amplifiers and JBL loudspeakers.

To meet the needs of modern travellers, U Nimman required cutting-edge lighting and AV systems, especially in the convention hall, said Pongsakorn Kanchanachayphoom, Director of Project, Mahajak Development Co. Ltd. Each room demanded robust AV, lighting and control systems, and HARMAN's best-in-class products met the client's needs to the last detail.

Mahajak selected the AMX NetLinx NX-2200 Integrated Controller as the core of U Nimman Chiang Mai's networked AV system. Designed for maximum flexibility, the NX-2200 connects all audio, lighting and video equipment via a user-friendly digital network. The flexible network architecture allows the convention hall's entire AV system to be controlled from one place, or split into individual zones as needed. The included NX Master Security firmware ensures secure communication across the network, providing secure control and monitoring, high performance and backward compatibility.

For sound reinforcement in the convention hall, Mahajak installed the Soundcraft Si Impact digital mixing console. Featuring 32 microphone preamps and an additional 64 audio streams via Dante network protocol, the Si Impact scales to events of all kinds. A 5 touchscreen display, color-coded FaderGlow lighting and iPad Control input make the Si Impact even more powerful and easy to use. Packed with DSP power, this console not only provides incredible sound effects during DJ and concerts but also studio-grade reverbs, delays and modulations.

Crown Macro-Tech 9000i power amplifiers connect to the network via the advanced System Architect Ethernet protocol, letting system operators monitor and control them from any location. The light-weight CROWN Macro-Tech 5000i power amplifier is set to produce an energetic tone while delivering unparalleled sonic accuracy and detail. The CDi 1000 yields accurate, uncoloured sound with low distortion perfect for music and vocal reproduction. The patented Class-I circuitry delivers maximum efficiency, pairing perfectly with the powerful and compact JBL VRX32LA-1 line array loudspeakers. Constant Curvature waveguides give the arrays even coverage across the convention hall. An array of JBL loudspeakers were installed including JBL PRX812W 12 two-way, bass reflex speakers. Powered by a 1500-watt class-D amplifier, it delivers incredible volume and flexibility as stage monitors and fill speakers. JBL PRX815W/230 - light-weight, full-range, versatile speaker with remote Wi-Fi control of onboard DSP EQ parameters. Its portability makes it an ideal choice for DJ's, musicians, entertainers and artists. This cutting-edge speaker also offers an option of tailoring the EQ for live music, recorded music playback and reinforcement of speech. The 18 JBL PRX818XLFW/230 subwoofer brings maximum sound coverage and is highly adaptable. It can be used as a single sub in a sub/sat system or in multiples as part of a more extensive sound reinforcement system, ensuring quick set-ups and tear-downs. Engineered with the leading DSP at its core, it offers user selectable cross-over functionality, polarity optimization, protection, dynamic limiting and discrete component optimization while providing sub bass frequencies with accuracy and power.
