May 23, 2016, SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Nokia Technologies today announced that OZO - the worlds first professional virtual reality (VR) camera - will be used to film a live performance and real-time broadcast by GRAMMY -award winning artist P!nk at the red carpet premiere of Disneys Alice Through the Looking Glass.
Todays event is the latest in a collaboration - announced in April - wherein Nokia will provide equipment and VR technologies to support the creation of special VR content for Disney films. Most recently, Nokia and Disney used OZO to create 360 degree videos for the premiere of Disneys The Jungle Book.
P!nks performance, staged next to the red carpet area, will kick off the premiere and will be filmed by three OZO cameras. It will be streamed live to YouTube 360 enabling fans to experience and navigate the concert through the Internet in real-time. On site attendees will be able to immerse themselves in the premiere experience via VR headsets.
OZO enables powerful experiences by transporting users to exciting new places, said Ramzi Haidamus, president of Nokia Technologies. Enabling fans to experience a live concert in 360 degrees, from the comfort of their homes, is an example of the immersive experiences OZO can deliver.
The 360 degree live video streaming event is an excellent proof point of the value of our relationship with Nokia, said Jamie Voris, chief technology officer at The Walt Disney Studios. The multi-camera immersive experience will allow Alice fans world-wide to participate in this exclusive event in a new and powerful way thanks to Nokias advanced 360 video capabilities.
Launched in November 2015, OZO is the worlds first VR camera aimed at professional content creators. The camera features real-time VR preview, 3D 360 degree spatial audio and video capture, full compatibility with professional workflows and multiple head mounted displays, and the ability to dramatically reduce post-production time, complexity and cost.
The Live VR broadcasting solution for OZO gives viewers the ability to experience marquee events in real time from around the world regardless of their location. The solution will be available to selected partners in Q2 2016 and broadly in Q3 2016.

In Disneys Alice Through the Looking Glass, an all-new spectacular adventure featuring the unforgettable characters from Lewis Carrolls beloved stories, Alice returns to the whimsical world of Underland to save her friend the Mad Hatter. Directed by James Bobin, who brings a unique vision to the spectacular world Tim Burton created on screen in Alice in Wonderland, the film is written by Linda Woolverton based on characters created by Lewis Carroll and produced by Joe Roth, Suzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd and Tim Burton with John G. Alice Kingsleigh has spent the past three years sailing the high seas. Upon her return to London, she comes across a magical looking glass and returns to the fantastical realm of Underland. Reuniting with her friends the White Rabbit, Absolem, the White Queen and the Cheshire Cat, Alice must save the Hatter, and Underland itself, before time runs out. Presented in Digital 3D(TM), Real D 3D and IMAX 3D, Disneys Alice Through the Looking Glass opens in U.S. theaters on May 27, 2016.
