German Projects Are Live!

A few weeks ago we announced that German creators could start building projects, and today they launched them to the world. We're so excited by the projects that are live already - everything from smart technology to uniquely German films and games. Here are just a few of the first projects to launch from Germany:

MIITO - the sustainable alternative to the electric kettle

A simple, intelligently designed device that heats any liquid directly in a vessel while cutting down on excess water and energy usage.

Notes of Berlin

From the creators of the popular blog Notes of Berlin, this film tells the story of the encounters that take place on the streets of Berlin over the course of a day.

Bocusini - Worlds first plug & play 3D Food Printing System

An easy-to-use, open-source food printing system using a heated food-printing head mounted to a standard 3D printer.

Noki: The smart doorlock for Europe

With Noki, you will no longer have to carry a key - just having your smartphone in your pocket is enough to enter your house. Noki is designed to fit on door locks with EU cylinders. While were on the subject of German projects, a few reminders about how they work:

Backers from around the world can support German projects on Kickstarter with any Visa, MasterCard, or American Express card. Backers based in Germany will also have the option to use direct debit as their payment method, when pledging less than 250 towards a German project.

German creators set their projects' funding goals in euro, and set up their accounts using local banking and business details. When projects are successfully funded, pledges will be collected in euro as well. We've also made it easier for US backers to quickly understand the value of foreign currencies: When looking at German project pages, backers based in the US will see the project's goal displayed in US dollars. Theyll also see reward tiers listed in US dollars, with the euros alongside.

Visitors to Kickstarter will see content in English or German depending on their browser settings, and can choose their preferred language manually through a drop-down menu located at the bottom of the screen. Creators can choose to describe their projects in German, English, or both, and they can add subtitles in a number of languages to project videos.
