RT and Coding Grace to host Ireland s first Django Girls event

RT and Coding Grace partner to host the first Django Girls workshop in Ireland. The free one-day workshop which will be hosted in RT on 23rd April, aims to encourage more women to take up an interest in computer programming.

The workshop which is female-friendly rather than female-exclusive will support participants to build their first web application using Python, Django, HTML and CSS. With 30 places available on the free workshop, applicants are advised to register early for a place through https://djangogirls.org/dublin/apply/. The closing date for applications is 16th April.

Paula Weir, a computer programmer in RT 's digital division and member of Coding Grace said I am passionate about coding and I would like to see more females take an interest in it and forge great careers in this area. The aim of the Django workshop is to demystify coding and provide training and mentorship for the participants to build their first web application.

Vicky Twomey-Lee, founder of Coding Grace, coder and community tech events organiser said: Bringing like-minded people together to learn, share and connect is one of the reasons why I am involved in events like this. It's a fantastic way to encourage people to learn and teach in an inclusive and friendly environment.

Django Girls is a non profit organisation and a community that empowers and helps women around the world to organise free, one-day programming workshops by providing training and support.

Coding Grace is a group of developers based in Ireland who love to code. The name Coding Grace is a homage to Grace Hopper, an eminent female computer scientist who held one of the highest ranks in the US navy.
